Adrianna Darnesse
With Lord Thane defeated, she now finds herself as an apprentice of Master Tallachienan Chroalthone, one of the greatest sorcerers who has ever walked Shandahar. Under his instruction, she hopes to learn to harness the power that will help in her fight against the Deathmaster, the dark sorcerer known as Aasarak. But even though Adrianna is removed from her companions and the risks inherent in their journey, she must face her own daemons behind the dark walls of Tallachienan's citadel.

Sirion Timberlyn
Suddenly bereft of the presence of Adrianna at his side, he begins an internal struggle. Still unknowing of his role in an ages-old prophecy, he fights his desire to bring Adrianna back to his side, not understanding that it is his nature, and his responsibility in life to be her only protector. As Sirion senses the danger to her coming nearer, his perceptions of reality become jaded, and he soon becomes trapped within a battle he may not be able to escape.

The Deathmaster
Having learned the use of the Azmathion, he has succeeded in amassing his largest army ever and is determined to bring Shandahar to its knees, just as he has done in previous Cycles. With each revolution Aasarak has only grown stronger, and he knows that the Cycle will come when he will have enough power to greatly influence the next Cycle, earning him entrance into a pantheon heretofore reserved only for those descendent of the most ancient of bloodlines.

A war will be waged that will determine the fate of the world forever.

Despite the failure of previous Cycles, the Wildrunners are determined to win their fight against Aasarak. Adrianna's newfound skills will be great, but will they be enough to tip the Balance? Or will it take more than just power for the world to give birth to a new era?

Having just returned home from eight years of arcane study in the mystical city of Andahye, Adrianna discovers herself in the company of a most unlikely group of individuals. Then, suddenly enveloped within a struggle against seemingly insurmountable evil, she finds her life forfeit, as well as that of countless others around Shandahar.

Having lived the harsh and unrelenting life of a ranger, Sirion must now face the most difficult challenges of his life. Unbeknownst to him, it is his destinyto prtoect the one foretold in the prophecy. If he fails in his task, the evil that shadows the world will not matter. The power that curses the events of the world to repeat over and over again will end any hope for the future.

Thane is the creation of one of the most powerful sorcerers who has ever lived. Reborn as lord of the Azmathous, it is within his very nature to exact the vengence his cruel heart desires. With the power granted to him upon his death, he will wreak havoc upon the world, and will torment Adrianna until she takes her last breath.

Despite the daemons of her past, and the subsequent weakness within her soul, Adrianna must now find inner strength. With Thane following close at her heels, she and her newfound companions must flee across the continent, find her warrior sister, and discover a way to defeat the Azmathous. If they win, they will get the chance to fight another day. But if they lose, the fate of all of Shandahar hangs in the balance.
